1 Corinthians 15.3,4 - “in accordance with the Scriptures”

1 Corinthians 15.3,4 - “in accordance with the Scriptures”

This phrase occurs twice amidst Paul’s “first importance” essentials – Christ died, raised, and appeared – exactly like the Hebrew Scriptures promised (1 Corinthians 15.3,4). Paul is thinking both of specific verses – Jesus fulfilled more than 300 Old Testament prophecies – and, all the Scriptures.  The Risen Jesus said, “…everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled” (Luke 24.44). The truth of Jesus is tied to the testimony of the Scriptures. The Bible defines and defends Jesus. If you want to know God you need to meet Jesus, if you want to meet Jesus you will do so in the pages of Scripture. No Bible, No Jesus – Know the Bible, Know Jesus! Tim Keller wrote, “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you must accept all he said; if he didn’t rise, why worry about what he said?”
